72nd/73rd MARTOVSKI FESTIVAL

Martovski festival – Beogradski festival dokumentarnog i kratkometražnog filma, po odluci Odbora manifestacije, biće održan u dvostrukom 72/73. izdanju, od 21. do 27. septembra 2026. godine u Domu omladine Beograda. U okviru objedinjenog programa biće prikazani domaći i međunarodni filmovi iz obe godišnje selekcije, dok će nagrade biti dodeljene zasebno za svako festivalsko izdanje.

Martovski Festival traditionally presents a diverse film programme across several national competition categories: documentary films up to 50 minutes and over 50 minutes, experimental film and video art, animated film, and short fiction films. The international competition programme includes all genres of short film.

This year, audiences will have the opportunity to discover a selection of the latest domestic and international productions, ranging from films by established authors to debut works and films created as part of thematic workshops. This diverse selection offers an insight not only into the directions taken by contemporary world cinema, but also into the place of Serbian film within that landscape.

World and domestic cinematography continue to demonstrate their vitality and energy. A large number of films explore hybrid forms and re-examine the relationship between humans and nature, as well as our role in the planet’s ecosystem, challenging an anthropocentric vision of the world. Other films and authors playfully engage with the seemingly banal realities of everyday life, bringing us back to ourselves through humour and irony.

Preispitivanje istorijskih događaja oduvek je bila važna tema Martovskog festivala – od afirmisanja zaboravljenih, a značajnih ličnosti i događaja, do različitih pokušaja reinterpretacije istorije. Važna funkcija festivala uvek je bila i edukativna: mlađoj publici pruža se uvid u kulturne i istorijske fenomene sa kojima inače možda ne bi imali priliku da se susretnu.

Most importantly, however, the selection of the Martovski Festival confirms that two key criteria of a quality film are the author’s personal perspective and the ability to allow protagonists to fully express themselves and tell their stories of life in the 21st century. Films that respond to these criteria in different ways through the language of cinema will be presented to audiences throughout the seven festival days.

Many of these films have not previously been screened in Serbian cinemas, giving visitors the opportunity to see several premieres, as well as a selection of award-winning works from domestic and international festivals. The Martovski Festival thus offers an opportunity to catch up on what has been missed and immerse oneself in the dreamlike world of film.

Tickets for screenings at the 72nd/73rd Martovski Festival will be available at the Dom omladine Beograda Box Office, through the eFinity sales network and online, at a price of RSD 500.

Beogradski festival dokumentarnog i kratkometražnog filma je stalna manifestacija u oblasti kulture od značaja za Grad Beograd, koji je glavni pokrovitelj manifestacije. Pokrovitelji festivala su i Ministarstvo kulture Republike Srbije i Filmski centar Srbije.
